Melasti Ceremony

Melasti is a cleansing ceremony to purify the temple amenities and the temple members ( the villagers). It also purposed to obtain the holy water to be used in further ceremony in their temple. Due to these purpose, the ceremony then held either in water springs, rivers or beaches. There will be procession of the villagers in their traditional outfits carrying offering, idols of temple’s God or deities, colorful flags and umbrella. It would also accompanied by cheerful Balinese music orchestra.

"Babi Guling" (roasted suckling pig)

Since Indonesia is mostly a Muslim country you will have a hard time to find any pork dishes on Sumatra and Java island, unless you go to a Chinese restaurant of course…...

But on Hindu Bali that’s no problem. The Balinese have a special dish called “Babi guling” which is spit-roasted suckling pig stuffed with spices

Oleg Dance

Oleg dance was originally called Legong Prembon. Coast seems less pleased with the name of the Legong Prembon because it is difficult to translate into English. This dance depicts two beetles, males and females, while having fun in the flower garden while sucking the honey.
